WE because HE

WE because HE

I grew up the youngest of ten grandchildren on my mother's side. My family is filled with achievers. My sister is four years older than me, beautiful, and was an all-star fast-pitch softball pitcher in high school. She was brought up to pitch for her varsity team as a freshman and I grew up reading her name and seeing her picture in the local newspaper often. I have several cousins who are amazing volleyball players (which was also the sport I played) and they went on to receive prestigious athletic scholarships and awards. I have many cousins who are musically gifted, play instruments, and sing beautifully and my mother and grandmother are well-known and well-loved in my hometown. From the time I was born, I have been referred to as "Rhonda's daughter", "Marlene's granddaughter", "Val's sister", or "So and so's cousin".

What does it look like to bring Heaven to Earth?

What does it look like to bring Heaven to Earth?

Anthony & I recently began watching the new show "The Good Place" starring Kristen Bell about how she ended up in 'The Good Place' (as opposed to 'The Bad Place') following her death on earth. It's from the creators of Parks and Recreation and it's pretty entertaining, but not at all based on biblical truths. Well, that's a lie. God's truth is everywhere and in everything (I dare you to seek and I promise you'll find), but what I mean to say is that 'The Good Place' and Heaven are two vastly different places and experiences... except, there is just one thing that is somewhat similar...

I don't even know how to begin this entry. There is a lot going on in this world we live in and most of what I've been hearing lately has been tragic, grim, and very upsetting. I think all of our hearts have been broken over and over again over the course of the past several months and I know I've had moments where I feel completely tempted to give-in to the panic and fear that is washing over the world right now. It's there, ripe for the taking, ready to consume our hearts, our minds, our behavior, and our motives and the enemy would really love it if we dove in and let it wash over us.

Priorities for your seasons

Priorities for your seasons

It's finally Fall - the best season of the whole year, in my personal (& correct) opinion! The weather has finally shifted and the morning fog has rolled in with the crisper, cooler air and the slightly grayer skies while the leaves change from shades of green to shades that make-up the entire color spectrum. Football has begun, hoodies & sweaters abound, chilly nights make for amazing sleeping weather, the smell of pumpkin-cinnamon-coffee-caramel-cocoa-vanilla-buttercream candles fill my home, and farms all over have turned their land into corn mazes with petting zoos and hayrides for kids and adults alike to enjoy while they roam about with their hot chocolate, donuts, and caramel apples! I cannot even begin to tell you all how much I adore this season! I wait all year long for it and it's gone in a flash but it is, hands down, the most perfect time of the year - all year, every year! Thank you, Lord, for Fall!
